Moving Forward to Better Things!

September 24, 2010

We all have problems that come our way from time to time. Some are worse than others. These problems may come from our own decisions, the decisions of others, natural disasters, loss of employment, or accidents. There are many factors in life that may affect us in a negative manner, and bring us down to a low point in life.

When I was a young man, I made many choices. Some of these choices have an effect on me today. Once we make a decision, whether it is a good choice, or a bad choice, there will be consequences that come with them, some of which follow us for a short time, to those that follow us for a lifetime. How much it debilitates us however is not set in stone.

In this time of recession, many people wonder how they are going to get the bills paid, or even if they will lose their home. Homelessness is a real problem it this country, many just want to sweep it under the rug and pretend that it does not exist. They come up with reasons they believe that these men and women are in shelters and on the...

Reality of my Life!

July 15, 2010

I have planted a seed,
so I know what hope is.
I’ve seen a sunrise,
so I know what beauty is.
I’ve seen an eagle fly,
so I know what freedom is.
I’ve been abused,
so I know what hatred is.
I’ve been kicked around,
so I know what rejection is.
I’ve been betrayed,
so I know what abandonment is.
I’ve lived on the street,
so I know what survival is.
I’ve hurt others,
so I know what wrong is.
I’ve lost a child,
so I know what pain is.
I’ve been to prison,
so I know what hell is.
I’ve served my time,
so I know what punishment is.
I have faced my problems,
so I know what reality is.
I have survived all this,
So I know what the power of God is.
I have put my faith in Christ,
So I know what salvation is.
I have given my life to Jesus,
So I know what Victory is!

The Great Commission! Disipleship Part 1

June 25, 2010

"Then the eleven disciples went away into Gallilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed them. When they saw Him they worshiped Him; but some doubted. and Jesus came and spoke to them saying, "All authority has been given to me in Heaven and Earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am always with you, even to the end of the age." Amen." (Matthew 28:16-20 NKJV)

Here begins the journey. As Christians, we rejoice when a friend or loved one come to Christ, and invites Him to live in their hearts. We see the alter calls at church and we rejoice when a man or woman, boy or girl, comes forward. They are ready to begin a new life with the Lord, they made the decision, stepped forward in faith. They are welcomed into the church by their new brothers and sisters in Christ. The service ends, everyone goes home. And that is where it usually ends. No phone call, no visit from a member of...

Power of God!

November 29, 2009

Where does the power of God lie? Do you think that God does not care about you, and wont answer your prayers? You unleash Gods power through your faith; your belief in Him that He is going to do what He says He will do. We are told in the book of James that the person who doubts should not expect anything from the Lord! Wow! Even the smallest amount of doubt will cause your prayers to go unanswered. Jesus Himself has told us that Faith can move mountains. Paul tells us in the book of Hebrews that "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" Things not seen. We believe in God to answer our prayers in spite of the circumstances which tell us differently. It is not looking at the circumstances which say "God is not doing this" It is looking to God and saying "God is doing it, despite what the circumstances look like, no matter how bad things are looking, God is working all things together for my Good"
Believe God 100% and leave no room for doubt, no matter how bad the circumstances look, and you WILL see the...

The Thief Comes Only to Steal!

November 23, 2009

Jesus said “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 Amplified                 Jesus tells us here that the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy our lives. The thief that He is speaking of here is the evil one, the devil and his demons. They come to us as a thief in the night, when we least expect it, in total surprise under the cover of darkness so that we do not even see it coming. When he gets to us, he steals from us the things that God has given to us, he takes the joy and happiness that the Lord has intended for us to live in. He kills us ever so slowly, first spiritually so that we lose our ability to fight the spiritual battle that he waged against us, and then he attacks us emotionally to tear us down, and bring us to anger against others, and against God the Father who we often blame for the wrong things that happen to us. With... [More]

Jesus-The most unique person.

October 10, 2009

The Most Unique PersonJesus Christ is often compared to other prophets and teachers, but He is the most unique person to ever live. Everything from His birth to after His death was miraculous and set Him apart from everyone else. Jesus was born by a virgin -- a natural impossibility. Before His mother Mary was married, she was told by an angel she would give birth to the Son of God. When she asked him how this could be, he answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God." Just as promised, the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ, the most incredible person to ever have lived. An Amazing LifeJesus' life was just as amazing as His birth. At 30 years old, He went out into the cities of Israel and began teaching and healing people. The Bible records that He was different from other preachers, for "the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes." Likewise, there was no disease... [More]

4 Steps to God

October 10, 2009

1. God Loves You!The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"The problem is that . . .2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.”The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,3. God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as...

The Dying Church In America & Thriving Church Overseas

October 9, 2009

We all can see it; we all secretly ask our self "What can I do to make a difference?" The Church in America is dying! The truth is not being preached and taught from our pulpits. Our congregations don't want to hear it. How do I get through to them, without them leaving the church? We all know that the Lord won souls through compassion, and not condemnation. We know that our job as a pastor is to lead, guide, feed, and protect our congregation. And for the most part we do. Except for one area...Protect, we are not called to protect them from the world, but from the evil one. Too many times we will advise a person put under our care that causes them to be disobedient to the Gospel of Christ! I have seen this so many times! Our responsibility to our congregations has not changed just because the times have! We compromise the teachings of Christ, where pastors in other places do not, and will not. What am I talking about? Mercy!     We all know, or at least should know, that our ministries are to be first and foremost to the communities in which we... [More]
